About The Artist: Stephen Morath is a third generation Colorado native, married and father of four mostly grown children. Although a frequent visitor and lover of New mexico and Arizona, he still lives in central Colorado, where, as well as painting, he grows fruits and vegetables, and drinks wine.
He has painted the whole Southwest, its beauties and its oddities, for almost a quarter century. His paintings are bright, nostalgic, and sometimes "cartoony." He favors the rural countryside and small towns, as well as the labor, loves, and spirit of Southwestern peoples. He is especially fond of back roads and blue highways, where the old trucks, lowriders, and airstream trailers can be found.
He is currently represented by Leslie levy Fine Art in Scottsdale, Arizona, and the Meyer Gallery in Santa Fe.
